Hi all you beautiful folk that helped to raise so much for men's mental health and prostate cancer .
There were over 250 dapper gentlemen and gentlewomen on the ride , we left from Triumph on Scotswood rd and rode through the middle of Newcastle , jesting gosforth Whitley bay tynemouth north shield wallsend and finished on the quayside at the millennium bridge . There were loads of people along the root cheering us on , to raise awareness of these causes is an amazing thing to do and the Distinguished gentlemen's ride did just that . The Newcastle ride raised over £15000 , goodness knows what the UK total was , even the world total ! Amazing .
mon a personal level , it gave me such a mental lift taking part , riding bikes is a massive part of my mental health strategy , I know it helps many  another people too . Meeting with my brother at the end was such a pleasure too , much love to him ❤️

Now then Sir , you can’t park that ‘ere

Like many of us , I've always been one for giving to, or helping fundraise for charity over the years . I'd say it all started when I was a wee bairn growing up in Cresswell , my grandma Gladys would take me Carol singing with the ladies from the Women's Institute round the village to raise money for the RNLI , a charity with close family ties to us in Cresswell. I used to love putting the money in the lifeboat box , watching the boat roll down the ramp every time a coin was placed in it . Then supporting Live aid back in the day to  children in need , comic relief , cancer research , TCT among many others , playing gigs or attending fundraisers, we have all been there and enjoyed helping when we could .
This brings me to to the Distinguised Gentleman's ride , prostrate cancer and men's mental health. Having suffered personal mental health issues many times through my life , I know first hand the struggle men can have coming to terms with mental health issues , not being able to talk openly about problems they have , suffering alone , going from day to day feeling isolated , ashamed , depressed , under pressure .
Riding in The DGR will give me an opportunity to help raise much needed funds and raise more awareness to help support these extremely important charities.
On a personal level , riding motorbikes over the years has given me immense pleasure , raising my spirits , putting  my mind in a place where I'm calm, stress free and mentally happy even in my darkest days .

I recently discovered my brother was diagnosed with PC and underwent treatment for it , thankfully coming through the other side fit and well , I got myself checked out just in case and was given a clean bill of health but I know many men who have undergone treatment for Prostrate Cancer , it's so common it's frightening . We must keep checking ourselves and pushing our GPs to ensure it's caught early . If In doubt get checked out .

I can't wait to take part in this years ride , I'll be dressing up in my finest attire , sporting my bushiest 'tache and flying the flag for men's mental health and prostate cancer .

If you've read this and can relate to any of it , I hope your in a better place nowadays .
If you've read this and you feel like talking about a problem with someone , give it a shot , you've nothing to lose and everything to gain .
If you've read this and your thinking about visiting the docs about an issue you might have , do it now , dont put it off , we are scared of the unknown , once you know , you can sort it out .

if you'd like to help me raise a little money to give to the charity , please do so , it doesn't have to be much , if we all gave a single pound , it would soon mount up .

alternatively , if your in Newcastle on the day of the ride and see a couple of hundred dapper gentlemen on classic motorbikes riding to the quayside , give us a wave .

I'll be the one on the vintage Bonneville smiling the most .

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Wednesday 16th Apr 2025

On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I don my open faced helmet , goggles and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
