The first major trip
Thursday 17th Apr 2025It was an 80mile round trip but the WL managed it with ease.
There still some hiccups over 50MPH to sort out bit in a pinch the bike is very viable.
I did take it over 60MPH at one point but had to make a stop after the engine seemed to start knocking and power dropped like a stone.
After letting it cool and richening up the power needle, we were on our way again.
The next job it to sort out will be to stop the fuel tap from dropping down while riding at high speeds, a peg will do the job but I would like something more elegant.
The WL is ready to ride!
Wednesday 16th Apr 2025After getting the bike in November and getting it running in March. The bike is now dialed in and ready to ride.
When we got the bike it was practically a non-runner, the carb wasn't tuned, the clutch was slipping, the cylinder heads were mismatched and in lots of places the bike was missing parts.
After changing the heads and tuning the carb, the bike was running but that's when we discovered the slipping clutch. After a short ride, it was clear we had to take it apart.
What was a suprise was to find the push rod was so worn it has welded itself into the adjuster bolt and snapped. And the riviting on the old fiber plates was so shockingly bad that list of jobs was only going to get bigger.
After getting the new fiber plates and reriviting the clutch plates, putting in the new adjuster bolt and push rod, the bike feels like it just rolled out of the dealership. No I just need to replace the brake shoes, brake bushing and the barings.
Tonight is the night of the first long ride after all the work that's been done. Wish me luck!
I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Friday 4th Apr 2025On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the people we love, live happier and healthier lives.
