What a great day!
Thursday 22nd May 2025Thanks to all my wonderful sponsors my fundrasing total of nearly £1,100 put me at #5 on the Bournmouth and Poole fundraiser leaderboard, and entitled me to be one of the "Top 30" bikes leading the ride of more than 1,200 taking part.
I also got a free breakfast at Mia's and a goodie bag at the end!
My choice of ride was unique - there were no other Mobylette's on the ride, very few mopeds at all in fact - and it certainly made me and the little Moby stand out in a crowd!
I got lots of cheers from the many thousands who lined the streets along the way.
Although the ride is over it is not too late if you or any of your friends and family wish to contibute.
Please do, it is a great cause.

WOW, original £1,000 target now reached! New one set.
Thursday 17th Apr 2025When I signed up for this year's ride I never thought for a minute that I would raise £1,000. But I have!
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated.
Your generousity has put me in third place on the Bournemouth & Poole leaderboard. Incredible! I am very grateful.
The money you have so kindly given has gone to two great causes.
Thank you.

$1,000 raised already!
Tuesday 8th Apr 2025Many thanks to everyone who has sponsored my ride in this year's DGR. Thanks to your generousity I have now raised more than $1,000 (USD), winning me an exclusive DGR1000 patch!
I've started preparing for the ride, taking the little yellow Mobylette out for longer and longer runs. Until it broke down!
It was fuel starvation - most likely caused by using the new ethanol added (E5) petrol, which causes petrol tanks to rust and block fuel lines and filters.
The filter/tap assembly broke when being disassembled, but after a thorough clean out of the tank and adding a new in-line filter in leiu of the original, the bike is now running better than ever! Let's hope it stays that was on the day.
When I set my £1,000 fundraising target I was being very optimistic, but with just under £200 to go I am beginning to think I might actually make it.
If you havent yet made a donation, please do. If you have, please ask someone else. These two causes - prostate cancer and men's suicide prevention - mean a lot to me personally. I lost a very dear friend to prostate cancer only recently (in 2023) and my brother in law Michael to suicide when he was just 27 years old.
All your donations are very welcome and not only will you being helping in the fight against the two biggest killers of men but will get to see me sporting 1970s style flares and my maroon wide-lapel sports jacket!

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Friday 21st Mar 2025
On Sunday the 18 May 2025 I'll be riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health (see https://www.gentlemansride.com/about).
In previous years I've done the ride on my classic GT750 Suzuki, but this year I've decided to ride something a little different. Literally little – my 1976 Mobylette Moby X7 moped!
So, before I don my 1970s flares and wide lapels to join the UK's biggest ride (in Bournemouth and Poole) I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can to help the men we know and love live happier and healthier lives.
