Amigos,

2023 was my first year I rode in the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride held locally at Noosa, Queensland. Your 2023 and 2024 donations have generously contributed more than AUD $12,000 to this global event which typically sees more than 105,000 riders raising upwards of $7.5 million from the 860 rides in 101 countries. While the statistics speak volumes, too many blokes stubbornly ignore or refuse to talk about their prostate health and or, mental well-being. Fellas, we need to talk.

Since 2012 more than USD $52.8 million has been raised by 500,000 riders of classic and vintage motorcycles in 101 countries around the world. And let’s not overlook the ladies from previous years accompanying their companions and refreshingly, a number of impeccably dressed ladies riding awesome motorcycles.

Globally, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men – with 1.4million men diagnosed with the disease every year. Over 10 million men around the world are now living with or beyond a prostate cancer diagnosis. DGR funding has enabled Movember to invest in world class biomedical research that leads to new tests and treatments particularly for men with high-risk disease, while Movember’s global clinical quality registries help clinicians improve treatment and reduce harmful side effects.

Your donations facilitate a range of support activities globally, including, Movember (supporting mental health), Men’s Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Veterans & First Responders Programs, and the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Social Connections Challenge.  I’ll be fund raising again this year May 18th and plan to ride in the Caloundra event, slightly different to the previous year’s Noosa ride. This year will be more a street circuit with greater public visibility.

Awareness of the DGR helps facilitate conversations that have the potential to save lives of brothers, fathers, husbands, partners, sons and friends, maybe even your own ! I encourage you to use this opportunity to ask what may be considered an awkward question because… it might just save a life !Donations can be made via the DGR website and any amount is received with much gratitude.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Saturday 22nd Mar 2025 On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
