My Blog
That's a wrap.
Tuesday 20th May 2025Fantastic day. Thanks for all the support. I even got awarded "bike of the day". Till next year, stay safe and stay dapper.

Almost ready
Tuesday 13th May 2025One final push. One last week. Only a few days to go now. The weather still doesn't look brilliant but if I raise more than $1000 I will ride rain or shine. So an extra donation will likely result in a photo of my looking like a drowned rat in a suit. I have checked the old bike over and taken it for a test ride. Apart from going at walking pace uphill it should survive. And as a bonus I got the front brake working!

Testing Tuning and Fettling
Tuesday 29th Apr 2025Only 3 weeks to go and I am getting nervous about the Airone's ability to do the ride. I spent the weekend rebuilding the carb, changing oil, fuel, and spark plug and adjusted points and valves. It tops out at 70 KMH which hopefully will be enough on the long run down McKinnon drive. I am still anxious about the big hill coming out of Noosa Heads. While doing the adjustments I did find that the front brake lever was on backwards. So now that has been fixed it stops a lot better!!

Oh Dear.... the hills!
Wednesday 9th Apr 2025I just found out that the route for the DGR includes a precipitous hill. Not sure if the 70 year old guzzi will cope with this but I will test ride and see if it can make it up.

I will get it working I am SURE. .. maybe

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Wednesday 26th Mar 2025 On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
