That time of year

Wednesday 14th May 2025

It’s that time of year again, when ordinary motorcyclists put on their finest toggery and pretend to be urbane philanthropists. Or is that just me?

Why am I riding? Honestly, it’s because I enjoy slipping on a wool suit and gadding about in triple digit temperatures. That’s it. Mystery solved.

Gadding… that’s what we sophisticated types do, apparently.

But, maybe it’s also because I’m someone whose life has been negatively impacted by one of the issues this charity seeks to address.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride works to raise awareness about two of the most complex issues facing men around the globe: prostate cancer and mental health.

The worst outcomes for both these issues are largely preventable. What you decide to do about them matters:

Prostate Cancer – get yourself checked regularly. It’s only awkward the first time. And you might decide you enjoy it. But that’s you.

Mental Health – check in on your mates. They won’t do it themselves. Go have a coffee or a beer. Maybe schedule a prostate cancer screening together and compare notes. The possibilities are endless.

But seriously, be that friend who makes a difference. For yourself and for your mates. You’ll be glad you did.

Now, if you’re like me and addressing these health problems is important to you, do me a favor and support me on my ride. The money goes directly to the DGR and if I reach my fundraising goals, I get a cool set of lapel pins to gad about in next year.

The ride is this Sunday, May 18th, but they accept donations for about a month afterward.

Thanks!

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Tuesday 25th Mar 2025 On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
